I'm Racing...Finally
Tomorrow morning, I'll be getting up at 3:45 am for a 4:30 am departure to race an olympic distance event in Sacramento. Don't take my lack of blog entries as a sign of me having bad workouts, in fact, I've had a good training block. I've been consistent and though I haven't had as many season bests as I did two weeks ago, I did manage to dip under the 6 minute mile during a tempo run five days ago. I've been consistently training for the past 5 weeks now and am thinking that I need to race just to break up the monotony of training. This is a low key race and even better, it's one of the few tri's that you can actually register race morning (*sigh* oh the old days when everybody did this). The race prep leading up to this is not my usual. I swam 4500 yards today and it was probably the hardest workout of the season. I was too lazy to swim yesterday so I went to a masters workout this morning and got stuck leading my lane for a 3000 main set. I couldn't just leave my lane hanging and cut out so I did the entire set with them. I also biked a bit too hard and ran a bit too hard, don't really know why, I was just kinda going through the motion and the motion seemed to be a bit fast today. Hopefully, I'll have this same motion tomorrow. My other reason for racing is I got my 2008 racing kit back. I'm excited to be racing for myself and for my causes this year. Nothing like a new superhero outfit to make you want to go out and race. I updated my prevention section with some info on plastics and bisphenol-A (don't worry, seems like most of the water bottles we use are made of the good plastic). Also, I need to give a shout out to Greg Thompson, former pro triathlete rookie of the year, now dad of four and comeback triathlete. It's been over 12 years since I last heard from him. Greg, I gotta find a block of time where I can really do justice in answering your e-mail.
