Calling Terry Davis Out

I'm calling you out Terry Davis. Yes you Terry Davis of Tri-California. You've done a good job of starting to reduce, reuse, and recycle at your events of late. I liked that the San Francisco Triathlon was almost a zero-waste race. Now, I'm calling you out to take the next step. Get rid of those damn finisher's medals and plaques as awards. Instead of a medal, give us something we can use like a $2-5 event credit for our next race. This way, you're reducing and you give us racers incentive to sign up for future Tri-California races. And plaques as awards? C'mon, we're triathletes, we love gear and we need gear. It doesn't have to be anything major, a pair of goggles would be cool, or some running shorts or arm warmers printed with our finishing place (or plain). Anything BUT a plaque or a medal. Terry, you are the man, if anyone can do this, you are the one. And if you need help, contact the people over at USAproductions. I did the Morgan Hill Sprint Triathlon where I only paid $81, placed third and look at the schwag I got. Nobody received finisher's medals that day but everybody was pleased and happy because the event was organized, had great free food including pizza, and an awesome raffle for prizes like Blue-Seventy wetsuits and a Blue bike frame. So Terry, I'm calling you out to take the next step. Oh yeah, my reason for posting, here's the race report: http://www.racingawareness.org/race1.html

Nice swim!! And I think your finish was pretty awesome, even if you didn't recatch him!
