Day 67: Getting my Ohm on

Well, for all you trigeeks, this blog is about to become somewhat irrelevant for y'all. I'm leaving tomorrow for a three week yoga teacher training intensive. I've been doing yoga for about 10 years now and I want to take my practice to the next level. The intensive is in Byron Bay and I'm looking forward to visiting the "Big Sur" of Australia. My first asana is at 6:30 AM and my last asana at 8:00 PM. I will be staying in very "simple" twin share accommodations and I will be eating a vegan diet. I guess I'm going from one extreme (ironman) to another. Like the rest of this trip, I'm nervous but excited. No riding for three weeks and I'll try to squeeze in some runs and swims if I can. I signed up for the Sydney Half Marathon on May 16 so I do need to get into some type of run shape. Also, I'm doing Hawaii 70.3 so I don't want to lose too much fitness; but at the same time, I know that the next three weeks is about my yoga practice. And if there is one thing I've learned, the yogis do not like extreme athletes. They think sports like ironman triathlons are anti yoga and go against the practice. Oh well, I'll keep me being a triathlete on the DL.

The above video has some clips from Ironman Australia race day. If you listen carefully at the start of the bike clip, you'll hear the announcer say that I'm the first international athlete. Well, I basically blame this guy for ruining my race. Once I heard that, my plan to pace and go out easy and controlled went out the window. I was just too jazzed to be practical. Damn you announcer. Catch up with ya'll soon. Be well!
