Pre-Race Soreness

I've composed at least three blog entries in my head now but somehow, they never made it onto the computer. The most noteworthy of the entries was a story about how I did a 45 mile ride with over 5000' of climbing only in my big ring. It was one of those days that started off with no motivation and a 2-hour late start but somehow I kept adding goals like: staying in the big ring only, only allowing myself 42 oz of water, and limiting my food intake to only 360 calories. I was coming off a 3-day illness post Donner Lake Triathlon so I was feeling pretty tapered. And now, I'm sore, really sore, and it is the day before my Folsom race. I've been on vacation for the past 7 days and only managed one 2000 yard swim and one 13 mile run. The past two days I've been cramming things like track workouts, pool sessions and bike rides in. The track workout did me in and was the main culprit for the soreness. Should be an interesting day tomorrow and here's to hoping that race day magic will come through once again.
