Going Simple

In the last couple of weeks, I've been researching ways to go more simple: food, clothing, products, etc...the less ingredients, the better. If you have some tips, send them my way. I got a free entry to the Silicon Valley Triathlon from Taylor over at Skincareforathletes.com, and until then, I had no idea of this company. I started using their body wash and I'm hooked. It smells great, has a minty feel so your muscles feel tingly afterwards, and the ingredients are simple and all organic based (no synthetic compounds with names that are hard to pronounce). Yep, that's a plug for the product alright. I'm going to be trying their other products so I'll give a review down the road. Next simple item is coconut water. Since I only use water and salt tablets, I thought I would experiment with other natural ways to get electrolytes. I've been using it for the past three weeks and it's good, really good. I don't think I've eaten an energy bar in over two years, just the thought of eating one makes me want to hurl. But I found Lara Bars which are once again, simple. Check out the ingredients. I can only do 2-3 bars a week because they too get old after too many.
On the training front, I put in two weeks of solid base building and then two weeks of speed work. I am now in a rest week for upcoming back-to-back racing weekends. I've had some great sessions and have hit some good numbers in training and well, of course that makes me even more anxious for the upcoming races. The better we train, the more anxious we feel about the race, why is that? I'm gonna work on converting that anxiety to confidence.

NICE! I love Lara bars also - so simple and nothing mysterious or chemical-sounding in them! I take plain old trail mix on lots of long rides - just dried fruit and nuts and sometimes coconut in it - always tasty.

I have tried the coconut H20 and I am a little less than thrilled. Of course Gatorade treats my stomach just fine so... As to the greatness that is the Lara Bar, I wholeheartedly concur!! The Peanut Butter flavor rocks! Gotta love the ingredients "Dates, peanuts, salt." I think I ate like 8 of em this weekend.
